Tiger Snake

Description

The tiger snake is thick bodied and can reach an average length of 1.2m but have been recorded up and over 1.5m. The colour of the snake may range from glossy black to a drab brown with bands of yellow lining the body. When threatened it will flatten out its neck just like a cobra.

Habitat

The tiger snake is mostly found around swamps and waterways or moist areas in search of its main food source being frogs. It shelters in thick vegetation under leaf litter and in fallen logs.

Distribution

The tiger snake can be found over most of australia but in W.A are found from Gin Gin in the north to just east of Esperance in the south and are found as far east as the cetral wheatbelt.
